It happens in a heartbeat: you meant to format a bootable USB drive, but you accidentally selected your 2TB backup drive instead. Within seconds, years of data seem to vanish. Whether it was a human error or a disk utility glitch, a “Formatted” status does not mean your data is gone forever.
XRecovery is designed to look past the new, empty file system created during a format. As long as you haven’t overwritten the drive with new files, our software can “roll back the clock” and reconstruct your original data from the raw disk sectors.
Most operating systems perform a Quick Format by default. This process simply clears the “Address Book” (the file system table) and tells the computer the space is now available.
The actual data—your photos, videos, and work files—remains physically on the disk until new data is written over it. XRecovery scans these “hidden” sectors to piece the puzzle back together.
